3D to 2D

3D to 2D "Go Beyond"  diving center advertisement             For my 3D to 2D assignment, I used a few photos of my map relief. The original piece was supposed to be like an ice cave or an ocean so I played with that idea for this assignment as well. This is just a simple advert for a diving center. I found the logo online but I imagined this would be seen in travel brochures and airports in coastal, tourist cities.

Map Relief

Map Relief 18" x 24" x 11" In Process: Artist Statement                  At some point in our lives, we all face something where we question how we will ever get past it. We all have moments where we struggle to move on, to get up, to try again. We may feel like we are in a dark hole with no chance of getting out. But we do. We go to work or school. We put on a good face for the people around us because they don't need to see our suffering. After all, they have their own problems and their own hole which they are trying to get out of. That is what this piece represents. It's meant to look like the ocean or an ice cave. On the surface, everything is white and clean. To someone looking at us, they may think that we have it all put together. That we never have any struggles and that out life is perfect. But under the surface of the plexiglass, it's dark and deep and scary. The lowest points are the darkest.

Masked Identity

Masked Identity In Process Don't mind my messy house and the cats in the background. Artist Statement                  There's a saying that goes something like, "I don't want to be famous, I want my work to be." I don't know who originally said it, but I've heard a few variations of it on different occasions. Most of my inspiration comes from that quote. I have never been the type of person to want attention or really be noticed in anyway. I'd much rather just blend into the crowd. As I've grown older, and my art has matured, I feel I've been forced to stand out. When I started college, I was at a tech school learning photography. My work was always getting picked out by the instructors and shown in later classes as examples. Even before that, I was picked by my high school art teachers for being "the best senior artist". I think most people would be thrilled with this kind of attention. While I

My grandma, owned a vacation home on one of the lakes in the northern part of the state. Every time we went, my grandma and I would go to the International Wolf Center. It is a place which educates the public about wolves and also houses anywhere from 2 to 8 wolves on-site. Every 4 years the center would get a pair of pups to add to the pack. Wolves are my grandma's
